Double soup of tonkotsu and seafood with homemade medium-thick noodles, open only 3 lunchtimes a week with 9 counter seats

  • Tonkotsu-seafood double soup
  • Homemade medium-thick straight noodles
  • Melt-in-your-mouth thick-cut braised pork
  • Soft-boiled seasoned egg is a classic favorite
  • Queues forming before opening
  • Perfect for a solo lunch
  • Counter seats only (9 seats)
  • Warm hospitality from the couple

Menya Kisso opens its curtains exclusively for lunch on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, nestled just a few minutes' walk from Kiba Station with only 9 counter seats. Its signature ramen features a double broth blending rich pork bone and fragrant seafood; creamy and full-bodied, it nonetheless finishes clean, celebrated for an elegant umami that many guests drink down to the very last drop. The medium-thick, straight homemade noodles are slick and chewy, releasing the natural sweetness of wheat with every bite. The thick-cut pork shoulder char siu is braised until tender enough to crumble, seasoned mildly to draw out the natural sweetness of the meat. Tsukemen with thicker noodles is served with a creamy seafood-tonkotsu dipping soup, which regulars often finish with a soup-wari broth dilution. Under a unique house rule where guests buy tickets before lining up, queues stretch out before opening, yet the owner and his wife offer attentive hospitality, greeting waiting diners and even lending parasols. The venue is completely non-smoking and cash-only, making it ideally suited for a quiet weekday lunch savored on your own.
