  • Long-established restaurant founded in 1954

Gyoza no Osama was founded in 1954 and has long kept the same style in a standalone building just a short walk from Asakusa Station. Its signature 'King's Gyoza' has a pan-fried thin skin that is crispy and fragrant, and the filling uses no meat, instead using cabbage chopped extremely finely into a paste-like texture; with the garlic kept light, it's said to be easy to keep eating one after another. In contrast, there is also a juicy, meat-forward pork gyoza and a smooth, chewy boiled gyoza, and many visitors come to compare the different types. There are also dishes that go well with drinks, such as a moist fried rice with char siu and egg mixed in, yakisoba made with thick noodles stir-fried with salt, and plump, odor-free liver and chives. The first floor is centered around counter seating, making it easy to visit alone, while the second floor has table seating, making it convenient for groups of friends or families. Amid a Showa-era atmosphere with a yellow signboard and handwritten menus, a daytime drink with a bottle of beer for around ¥1,000 is also a classic way to enjoy the place.
