Hon Tosaya is a long-established yakiniku restaurant preserving its tradition in Asakusa since 1981, offering an unpretentious, retro downtown Showa atmosphere filled with tatami seating where guests take off their shoes, as well as horigotatsu (sunken table seating). The signature dishes are premium salted tongue, which is thick yet tender and releases sweet and savory umami with every bite, and flavorful premium skirt steak with no gaminess. The menu also offers melt-in-your-mouth deluxe bone-in short ribs, carefully prepped and odor-free stamina grill and offal, and crunchy raw omasum (senmai sashi). For the finale, you can choose from flat-noodle Asakusa cold noodles or soup dishes with melt-in-your-mouth beef tendon. Many guests are surprised by the reasonable prices given the high quality and generous portions, and the restaurant is quite spacious with 110 seats. Walls covered with autographs attest to its long history, and with entirely non-smoking seating, it is family-friendly with children, and can accommodate private hire for groups of up to 20 guests.
