Bakery & Restaurant Sawamura Shinjuku is located on the 2nd floor of NEWoMan SHINJUKU, directly connected to Shinjuku Station, and opens from 7:00 in the morning. The star of lunch is freshly baked aged-yeast bread; when the basket empties, freshly rebaked bread arrives, and customers can enjoy several varieties, from hard-crust to soft, on an all-you-can-eat basis. The morning plate, with thick-sliced toast, bacon and eggs, and vegetable-filled side dishes, is generous enough to be too much for one person. Distinctive breads such as chestnut danish are also available for takeout, and many people stop by while waiting for their train. As a sister shop to a popular Karuizawa establishment, it is part of a group that is particular about homemade yeast and carefully selected ingredients, and while prices are somewhat higher, many customers feel the quality justifies it. The interior, with high ceilings and a black-based design, is entirely non-smoking and barrier-free. Reservations are not accepted, so it is recommended to visit early, expecting a line.
