At a darkened counter, a spotlight shines only on a bowl of aged soy sauce ramen

  • Signature aged soy sauce ramen
  • Refined and rich tori paitan is also popular

  • Soup-soaked wontons
  • Spotlight styling for each seat
  • Only 18 counter seats
  • 2-minute walk from Tachikawa-Minami Station
  • Great for a ramen date

Just a 2-minute walk from Tachikawa-Minami Station on the Tama Monorail, you open the door to an almost pitch-black interior, where spotlights illuminate only the ramen at each counter seat—Kyoka is renowned for this theater-like ambiance. The dark wood decor and jizaikagi hearth hooks are said to reflect the ethereal world of literary master Kyoka Izumi, evoking the atmosphere of a bar or kappo restaurant. The signature dish is a bowl of sweet and rich aged soy sauce soup, highly favored for the harmonious blend of meat and seafood broths paired with medium-thick, flat, curly noodles. In addition to a creamy yet elegant tori paitan, as well as a salt broth highlighting the umami of shellfish and kelp, guests can enjoy comparing 2 kinds of chashu—thinly sliced pork shoulder and braised pork belly cubes—along with well-received wontons soaked in flavorful broth. With no background music, spacious seat intervals, and attentive service extending all the way to seeing guests out, the shop offers a calm atmosphere whether you visit alone or on a date. Budget is in the ¥1,000 range, continuing as a popular destination in Tachikawa since 2000.
