Since opening in 1997, Cafe Michelangelo has been cherished as a symbol of Daikanyama. In the courtyard stands a 300-year-old zelkova tree, and the terrace seats dappled with sunlight offer a green world apart that makes you forget you're in the middle of the city. Inside, antique furniture, terracotta floors, and marble tables line the space, evoking the dignified atmosphere of an old-fashioned Italian cafe. The signature dish is the Michelangelo pudding, named after the shop itself, drawing many visitors for its firm texture, rich egg flavor fragrant with vanilla, and the balance with slightly bitter caramel. In addition to classic sweets like tiramisu and creme brulee, the food menu is substantial, featuring carbonara, Sicilian-style spaghetti alla Norma, and creamy risotto. The coffee, served in a silver pot, is said by some to be enough for two to three cups, making it pleasant for weekend brunch as well. Pets are welcome both inside and on the terrace, and sofa seating allows for a relaxed stay, making it suitable for dates and family visits alike.
