On the first floor of the Kato Building, just a short walk from Ikebukuro Station, MENYA NAKAGAWA's signature dish is tsukemen with a rich, double-layered dipping sauce combining chicken, pork bone, and dried sardine. The dipping sauce, rich with the umami of plenty of chicken oil, pairs with chewy thick noodles that you dip in, and following the tabletop guide, you can enjoy it as is, then change the flavor with lemon, black shichimi, and soup dilution. It's also fun to compare the two types of char siu – hanging-roasted pork shoulder and low-temperature cooked chicken breast – and the finishing cheese risotto, made by adding cheese and rice to the dipping sauce, is a signature specialty. The chicken soy sauce ramen and chicken salt ramen with clear soup are also popular. The 14-seat counter is bright and clean, and with attentive service, it's easy for women dining alone to enter.
