Lighting up an alley about 1 minute on foot from Tsukishima Station, Zaiichi Tsukishima Honten is a downtown hidden-gem yakiniku restaurant operating since 2009. The signature dish is their original specialty, "Gochamaze-yaki," where offal and red meat are mixed roughly with a secret miso sauce and dynamically grilled on a dome-shaped iron plate; its rich depth and sweet-savory flavor pair wonderfully with both rice and alcohol. The Hida beef sirloin sourced from Hida Takayama is grilled as a single thick cut and enjoyed with raw egg dipping sauce, while the thick-cut salted beef tongue brings out the quality of the meat purely with salt. Staff will grill parts that are tricky to cook, and they attentively change the grill mesh every time a different meat is served. Centered around a 42-seat counter, the venue is completely non-smoking, accommodates private hire, and stays open until 1:00 the next morning, making it reliable for parties or late gatherings. For the finish, Morioka cold noodles, gochamaze yakisoba, and smooth homemade pudding are also available.
