Perched on the second floor of the Himi Fishing Port fish market, Himi Fish Market Restaurant is directly run by a fish wholesaler with roots stretching back to the Edo period, allowing morning-caught fish auctioned on the first floor to make its way straight to your plate. The signature Himihama-don is a bowl packed with thick cuts of local fish, widely appreciated for its balanced mix of lean and white fish as well as the fragrant sear on certain slices. Guests can also enjoy choosing from 3 portion sizes named in the local Himi dialect: "Chokkoshi", "Yawayawa", and "Hansa". The clay-pot fisherman's soup served with the set meal (teishoku) is simmered right on a tabletop stove, letting you savor large fish balls and rich flavors from fish bones, and many visit specifically for this dish. You can also add Toyama specialties such as white shrimp sashimi, karaage, or bowls featuring yellowtail. Outside the window lie the fishing port and the sea, while the 82-seat interior is entirely non-smoking and equipped with tatami seating (zashiki), Wi-Fi, and parking.
