Just steps from Suidobashi Station, Tomita Shoten occupies a renovated standalone building that preserves the original feel of an early Showa-era bookstore. Surrounded by bookshelves and picture-book menus, the interior offers an extraordinary atmosphere, making guests feel as if they have stepped into a story. Its signature items are recreations of dishes from classic novels and animations, such as Heidi's bread with melted cheese or tomato pasta topped with giant meatballs, each sparking conversation at the table. Charcoal-grilled Kuroge Wagyu and Ezo venison, cooked slowly over binchotan charcoal, provide a rich aroma and savory flavor that make them house favorites. The otoshi (table charge appetizer) of daikon radish simmered in chicken bouillon topped with porcini sauce is praised for pairing excellently with drinks, going hand in hand with the wine selection ranging from accessible glass pours to natural varieties. The 1st floor features 14 counter seats, while the 2nd floor offers table seats, making the space suitable for dates, business entertainment, or private hire parties for 30 or more guests.
