Koikenoiekei is an Iekei ramen specialty shop with only 9 counter seats, located in Sengoku within walking distance of Sugamo Station. Its signature tonkotsu shoyu ramen is rich with pork bone depth yet creamy and free of gamey odors, offering a mellow flavor that is easy to finish to the last drop. It is complemented by thinly sliced, tender low-temperature-cooked rare chashu, crunchy coarsely chopped onions, and mildly spiced seasoned cabbage, with the fully loaded option that adds chashu and seasoned boiled eggs also enjoying strong popularity. Noodle firmness and soup richness can be tailored to your liking, and customizing flavors with tabletop condiments like garlic, tobanjan chili paste, and ichimi chili preserved in soy sauce is a standard ritual. Rice dishes such as green onion chashu rice topped with a special sauce are widely available, and chilled tsukemen infused with kombu water and fragrant sudachi citrus makes an appearance during summer.
