Nestled in an alley by Hozenji since 1986, Salon de Thé Alcyon Hōzenji Main Store has long been cherished as a specialty boutique for French confections and black tea. Its signature item is a three-layer Mont Blanc that stacks French chestnut cream, fresh whipped cream, and crisp meringue, winning acclaim for its balance of rich chestnut aroma and refined sweetness. The teas feature flavored varieties crafted with leaves from Georges Cannon, served generously in pots, and many patrons delight in pairing them with cakes. The first floor is dedicated to the sale of cakes and baked goods, while the second floor serves as an eat-in salon where the warmth of wood and antique furnishings evoke the extraordinary ambiance of a Parisian tea salon. The one-plate lunch—spanning everything from soup to cake and tea—and reasonably priced afternoon tea are also popular. Featuring entirely non-smoking table seats, it is a comfortable retreat during sightseeing breaks or for spending some peaceful time alone.
