Located in a multi-tenant building spanning the 1st to 4th floors, just a short walk from JR Shimbashi Station, Aburi Shimizu Honten is a lively izakaya popular with office workers. Its signature dish is charcoal-grilled Joshu pork skewers delivered fresh from Gunma every morning, offering cuts like tongue, kashira (head meat), and harami (skirt), each juicy and infused with the aroma of charcoal. The ami-liver, made by wrapping liver and heart in caul fat and grilling it, has no unpleasant smell and a melt-in-the-mouth texture, with some saying even those who dislike liver can enjoy it. To finish the meal, there's motsu nabe, available in salt, spicy, or mentaiko flavors, packed with cabbage and plump offal for a satisfying meal. The restaurant also offers basashi (horse sashimi) delivered directly from Kumamoto and miso-based motsu-ni (stewed offal), and the course with all-you-can-drink is well regarded for its good value. With counter seating, tatami seating, and a terrace, the restaurant suits everything from solo drinkers after work to private parties of up to 20 people.
