Welcoming guests at Yobuko Port since 1973, Kawataro Yobuko is a standalone seafood eatery renowned as a pioneer of live-tank cuisine. A large live fish tank is set in the center of the restaurant, making the wait watching squid swim feel like an appetizer in itself. Its signature live squid sashimi is praised for translucent flesh that has a crunchy texture and releases sweetness the more you chew. Once finished, the tentacles are refried as light-batter tempura, allowing guests to enjoy two distinct textures from a single squid. Sharing squid shumai and turban shell sashimi adds to the fun. The venue offers 130 seats across 1st-floor table seats and 2nd-floor tatami seating overlooking Yobuko Ohashi Bridge and the port, as well as free parking for 30 cars. During busy times, a numbered ticket system is used, and waiting while strolling around the neighboring local product center or the port town is the Yobuko way.
