Founded in 1946, Restaurant Azuma has been serving yoshoku (Western-style Japanese food) since the postwar era on the first floor of a building in Ginza 6-chome. The interior, with its red gingham-checked tablecloths and warm lighting, has a Showa-era retro atmosphere like a scene from a movie, making it easy to forget you're in Ginza thanks to its unpretentious feel. The signature dish is a thick, coarsely ground hamburger steak topped with demi-glace sauce, and the omelet rice, layered with runny egg, ketchup, and demi-glace sauce, along with the crispy-fried crab cream croquette, are also popular. The signature juju-yaki, served since the restaurant's founding, sizzles with cabbage and meat on a hot iron plate, and the fun of pouring the sauce over it yourself adds to the experience. With 45 seats including 4 counter seats, the restaurant accommodates everything from solo lunches to private group hire using the basement floor. Despite being in Ginza, the prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is also popular as a place that people working nearby visit regularly.
