Founded in 1965, Sakatsuya Naka Branch has preserved its banner for more than half a century in Mori no Chikagai, just tens of seconds from the Sakae Station ticket gates. Its signature dish is the shrimp cutlet, made by lining up small shrimp and deep-frying them together; many regulars visit specifically for its crispy coating, the rich flavor of shrimp, and its appealing cross-section. The menu is packed with Nagoya specialties, including miso katsu and miso skewered cutlets coated in rich red miso sauce, sweet beef tendon dote-ni, and fatty tuna sashimi, all reasonably priced so that ordering several dishes still keeps the bill in the ¥2,000 range. The 48 table seats bustle right from the morning opening, where regular solo customers quietly sipping their drinks are part of the daily scenery. At lunch, the select lunch allowing guests to choose two side dishes is popular, and since the entire restaurant is non-smoking, it is also very easy to visit just for a meal.
