Located on the second floor along the Nishihara shopping street, just a few minutes' walk from Hatagaya Station, Ni hao is a gyoza specialty shop founded in 1982. Its specialty is not ground meat, but a filling wrapped with roughly chopped pork shoulder, well known for its satisfying, meaty bite with every chew. You can enjoy the same filling prepared in three distinct ways: pan-fried gyoza with both sides crisped to an aromatic finish, boiled gyoza with thick, chewy skins that slide down smoothly, and deep-fried gyoza that are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside. Comparing the three with friends has become a standard routine. A special sauce made with Taiwanese shacha sauce adds an aromatic twist, and pan-seared shumai as well as crab fried rice with plenty of lettuce are also firm favorites. With 34 seats, including 9 at the counter, the interior is bright and clean, featuring a theater-style setup where you can watch gyoza being folded and woks being tossed right in front of the kitchen. Combined with friendly service, it is a welcoming place for everyone from solo drinkers to families.
