  • Rich TKG is also a classic
  • Easy to visit solo
  • Great for a late-night finish
  • 13 counter seats
  • Private room with tables on the 2nd floor

Just steps on foot from JR Nishi-Chiba Station, Uramusashiya Nishi-Chiba Main Shop is known for its Iekei ramen, which combines a rich pork bone soy sauce broth—made by boiling pork bones and chicken carcasses separately before blending—with the aroma of golden chicken oil mixed with back fat and the sharp punch of soy sauce tare. The noodles are custom-ordered medium-thick noodles from Sakai Seimen, a purveyor renowned among Iekei shops, cut short for easy slurping, and many diners enjoy customizing their bowl with firmer noodles or extra oil. Moist, juicy braised pork char siu made from thigh meat, runny seasoned soft-boiled eggs, and TKG (tamago kake gohan) topped with chopped char siu are also highly popular staples. The 1st floor has 13 counter seats, and the 2nd floor offers table seating; despite the energetic calls echoing from the kitchen, the customer service is well-regarded for being polite. The entire restaurant is non-smoking and stays open until near midnight, making it reliable both for a solo bowl and as a finish after drinking. The rule is to purchase a meal ticket before lining up, so be sure to check the queue when you visit.
