Located in an alley a few minutes' walk from Jimbocho Station, Ramen Jiro Kanda Jimbocho is a ramen shop known for serving noodle portions said to be among the biggest in the official Jiro lineage. Even the small size features an enormous serving of ultra-thick flat noodles that covers the entire bowl; packed with wheat aroma and a robust chewiness, the noodles pair excellently with the soup driven by sharp soy sauce and savory pork umami. Another major highlight is the multiple slices of thick-cut, tender pork infused with rich flavor, which many diners enjoy while refreshing their palate with lightly salted pickled ginger. The interior consists solely of 10 counter seats and is entirely non-smoking, often described as having an earnest atmosphere where solo guests focus quietly on their bowls. Although there is a batch-based queuing system where customers rotate in small groups, the assistant guides guests attentively so even first-timers will not be confused. Factoring in conditions such as no reservations, cash only, and closing early once sold out, waiting while watching the owner intently craft each bowl makes it well-suited for a solo lunch on days when you have ample time.
