Located about a 5-minute walk from Gotanda Station, Firehall 4000 fills the air with the appetizing aroma of spices and Japanese pepper, produced by Chef Kinya Komoda, an alumnus of Shisen Hanten. The signature is a hot pot offering two varieties at once: a spicy mala broth and a medicinal herbal bak kut teh broth. Course meals featuring shark fin and branded Kato Pork are highly regarded for their satisfaction right down to the finishing ramen and dessert. The à la carte menu is also well-rounded, including the signature hot pot noodles layered with deep spices, mapo tofu harmonizing Japanese pepper aroma with sweet and savory umami, and creamy dandan noodles enhanced by homemade chili oil. Spiciness levels can be selected, though diners note that the heat can be stronger than indicated, delighting spicy food enthusiasts.
