Located in a standalone house reached by following a map through the back alleys of Nihonbashi-Ningyocho, Soyoichi is a Western-style diner with just 15 counter seats. Its signature dish is the beef cutlet, made by quickly frying thinly sliced beef to a rare finish inside, allowing you to enjoy the crispy coating and the flavor of the lean meat while switching up seasonings such as sauce, salt, and soy sauce to your liking. The pork sauté, made by grilling thick-cut pork loin with garlic butter soy sauce, is another specialty, and guests appreciate the thoughtful touch of being asked whether they want garlic each time they order. Some also come for the macaroni salad with homemade mayonnaise or the cutlet curry, which is limited to 10 servings per day. Rice comes with free refills, and the lively atmosphere of watching the proprietress cook over high flames across the plain wooden counter is another draw. With fast service, entirely non-smoking seats, and an easygoing vibe for solo diners, it is well suited for an after-work treat or a special lunch.
