The specialty of Goshiki Restaurant is tai somen, featuring a whole young sea bream simmered sweet and savory and served over colorful five-color somen noodles. Diners pull the fish apart and dip the meat in the broth for a festive presentation, available as a whole fish or fillets, that has long been served at celebratory occasions. Another unique pleasure here is comparing two styles of sea bream rice at once: Matsuyama tai meshi cooked together with the rice, and Uwajima tai meshi mixed with sashimi and an egg yolk sauce. Other classic Ehime flavors share the table, including jakoten made by deep-frying whole minced small fish from the Uwa Sea, well-seasoned senzanki fried chicken, and colorful fukumen. The stately standalone building, imbued with a long history, features horigotatsu (sunken table seating) across its tatami rooms, alongside fully private rooms accommodating from 4 to about 50 guests.
