Underground in Ginza, a grown-up coffee moment: single-origin beans slow-brewed and served generously by the pot

  • Today's coffee served by the pot, about two cups
  • Farm-specified beans, slow-brewed at low temperature
  • Comes with a card describing the beans
  • Lightly sweetened cheesecake
  • Comfortable for solo visitors
  • A good break spot while strolling in Ginza
  • A hidden basement retreat
  • All-non-smoking table seating

Located in the basement of a building on Ginza 3-chome, Coffee Shop Sanjiken, Ginza Main Store serves straight coffee made from beans specified by farm and origin, freshly roasted by an affiliated bean specialty shop. Today's coffee changes daily, using single-farm beans slow-brewed at low temperature, said to offer a well-balanced contrast of acidity and bitterness. Each order comes with a card noting the actual beans and their origin, and even a single order is brought by the pot, yielding about two cups. Lightly sweetened treats such as souffle-light cheesecake and chiffon cake topped with fresh cream complement the coffee well. Descending the stairs reveals a dimly lit space filled with bossa nova and jazz, creating a grown-up atmosphere. All seating is non-smoking table seating, suitable for a solo break, a chat with friends, or a relaxed meeting.
