The signature dish of Yotsukado Hanten, located close to Tachikawa Station, is its thick 600g giant braised pork. Tender enough to break apart with chopsticks, its sweet and savory sauce subtly scented with star anise pairs wonderfully with both white rice and beer; knife and fork are thoughtfully provided for easy slicing. Accompanying plates also offer more than enough food for 1 person, including ultimate fried rice tossed with scallops, char siu, and house-made XO sauce, as well as meaty gyoza with thick, chewy wrappers. Founded in 1927, the restaurant retains an authentic Showa-era neighborhood Chinese atmosphere across its 27 table seats. Because queues form daily, guests take a numbered ticket at the entrance machine and wait for their LINE notification. The entire restaurant is non-smoking and welcoming for families with children, and leftovers can be packed to go in containers available for a fee, making it ideal for tackling this famous dish together with friends or family.
