Located along Yunohana-dori street, just a short walk from Ito Station, Rakumiya Marugen is a seafood izakaya where you can casually enjoy the rich bounty of Izu's waters. The signature Uzuwa set meal features frigate tuna tataki, so fresh that it can only be eaten raw near where it is caught. It can be enjoyed in 3 stages: with spicy green chili soy sauce, over a rice bowl, and finished as chazuke poured with piping hot dashi (Japanese soup stock). The menu also boasts an abundance of Ito-specific local dishes that pair perfectly with alcohol, including the famous chunky squid croquettes and chinchin-age (deep-fried fish minced cakes). Lunch set meals are in the ¥1,000 range, while dinner costs around the ¥3,000 range to savor local fish and fine sake. Thoughtful dining guides and free rice refills for set meals are also well received. The entirely non-smoking interior features relaxing tatami seating (zashiki) and horigotatsu (sunken table seating), making it ideal for a sightseeing lunch or daytime drinks.
