Founded in 1947, Shinsuzume is a dango shop brimming with downtown atmosphere, filling a corner of the Osu Shopping District with fragrant smoke and the aroma of soy sauce. Its signature mitarashi dango is coated in a secret soy sauce glaze that has been continuously replenished for years, and each skewer is carefully grilled until fragrant on the storefront grill. Skewers holding 5 small dango are famous for their piping-hot, soft, and chewy texture. The kinako dango, generously dusted with gently sweet roasted soybean flour, is also popular, and alternating between the savory-sweet mitarashi and kinako is highly recommended.
