  • Fluffy, tender tonpeiyaki
  • Hot-and-cold delicious anko butter roll
  • Great for dining with children
  • Accommodates group parties
  • Staff grills right before your eyes
  • Lively, modern space

Situated along Hoppy Street in Asakusa, Asakusa Monja Monroe is a popular dining spot where guests can enjoy authentic teppan cuisine in a lively atmosphere. The signature Monroe Special Monja is loaded with sea treasures such as shrimp, scallops, and crab, filling your mouth with the rich savory taste of dashi (Japanese soup stock) and freshly shaved cheese. The side menu is also extensive, featuring dishes like tonpeiyaki—pork and beansprouts wrapped in fluffy egg—that pair perfectly with alcoholic drinks. Because the staff cooks every dish right in front of you to the best degree, even monjayaki beginners can enjoy it without worry. To finish your meal, the Anko Butter Roll—sweet red bean paste and butter wrapped in a chewy crepe-like batter and served with cold vanilla ice cream—is highly recommended.
