Standing directly in front of Kita-Ayase Station since 2008, Watai Chinese Soba Restaurant is a popular tsukesoba spot with lines day and night. Hidden within the thick and rich pork bone and seafood dipping broth is chopped chashu; when dipping the chewy thick noodles crafted in the in-shop noodle room, the broth clings so well that hardly any liquid remains. Playing a starring role is the rolled pork belly chashu, sliced thick like kakuni braised pork, whose tenderness flaking apart effortlessly with chopsticks elevates the special dish's satisfaction. You can choose hot noodles or cold noodles for the tsukesoba, and finishing by diluting the remaining broth with soup-wari to drink it all is the classic routine. The classic ramen is also popular, renowned for its nostalgic, slightly sweet soy sauce broth. The staff provide warm hospitality, kindly explaining how to buy meal tickets and guiding portion sizes, and children's chairs are also available along the 10-seat U-shaped counter.
