Aoshima Shokudo Akihabara is known as a rare place in Tokyo to enjoy ginger soy sauce ramen originating from Nagaoka, Niigata, and it's not uncommon for a line to form before opening. The signature Aoshima ramen features an animal-based broth of pork bone and chicken bone combined with a ginger-accented clear soy sauce, giving it a finish that's surprisingly clean despite its appearance, and it's praised for its nostalgic, warming flavor. The smooth, homemade medium-thick curly noodles cling well to the soup, and regulars enjoy specifying the noodle firmness when handing over their meal ticket. The Aoshima chashu, made of layered pork belly slices varying in thickness and fat, is tender and full of flavor, and many say the reasonable price even when adding extra noodles gives a sense of good value. With only 9 counter seats, the shop offers a refined flow where bowls arrive just minutes after being seated, making it easy to use for a solo lunch.
