A clean, resolute bowl enjoyed in the back alleys of Akabane: aromatic dried sardine broth and firm, snappy homemade noodles

  • Clear soup with aromatic dried sardines
  • Snappy, low-hydration homemade noodles
  • Chuka soba topped only with scallions
  • Hinai chicken soba also available
  • Perfect finish after drinking
  • Quick bowl even for solo diners
  • Only 7 counter seats
  • Hidden-gem location in a back alley

Situated in a hidden-gem location just a 1-minute walk from the East Exit of Akabane Station—where you must follow the alleyway deeper in even after spotting the sign—lies Jikaseimen Ito. The broth stands out with a pronounced aroma and savoriness of niboshi (dried sardines) while remaining free of bitterness or unwanted aftertaste, finishing cleanly. Complementing this broth are firm, low-hydration, straight homemade noodles that have earned a reputation for their satisfying snap that binds exceptionally well with the soup. The signature chuka soba boasts a resolute simplicity with scallions as its sole topping, while the niku soba layered with tender, lean meat is also popular; guests can also choose a milder bowl combining niboshi with the rich umami of Hinai jidori chicken. In the summer, diners also look forward to seasonal treats like chilled ramen accented with yuzukosho. The interior consists of a long horizontal layout with only 7 counter seats, where a slightly dim, traditional folk-house style evokes the ambiance of an established classic. Entirely non-smoking with speedy service, and operating continuously until midnight (24:00), it is a reliable spot for solo diners or for rounding off a night out drinking in Akabane.
