The signature of Menya Deko is its double-brewed soup, made by combining a cold-extracted dashi of Rausu kelp and dried shiitake with various dried sardines and minced chicken, resting it for a day, and then simmering it to perfection. The specialty extra niboshi soba provides robust aroma and umami without lingering heaviness; paired with low-hydration thin noodles, two kinds of chashu, diced onions, and rock seaweed, it is praised for remaining smooth and easy to finish down to the last drop. Special and seasonal menus abound, such as rich oyster soba with creamy oyster umami, clam aromatic soba for shellfish lovers, and chilled mackerel with shiso. Pairing a bowl with aedama accented with oyster paste or ginger further expands the dining experience. Featuring 7 counter seats and 2 tables, the compact, entirely non-smoking interior maintains a calm ambiance, complemented by the friendly and attentive hospitality of the owner and staff. Service is prompt, making it a popular choice for solo lunch diners.
