A few minutes' walk from Shibuya Station, tucked into an alley off Center Street in a building with exposed concrete, RODEO & Cafe is an Italian restaurant known as the sister store of a popular Nakameguro establishment. Its specialty is the meat spaghetti, thick noodles tossed with a charcoal-grilled hamburger patty and rich demi-glace, finished tableside by breaking it apart and grating cheese over it, a presentation that becomes the highlight of the meal itself. Wagyu cuts like ichibo and rump are cooked tender and juicy using a blend of charcoal and cherry or hinoki cypress firewood tailored to each ingredient, while the grilled vegetable salad, its sweetness drawn out over charcoal, and the melting cheese bruschetta also pair well with wine. The dimly lit, black-toned space feels sophisticated and adult, making it suitable for dates or celebrations marked with a special plate. With 70 seats centered on table seating, private hire is available for groups of 20 or more, and the pasta lunch, which comes with salad and a drink, is reputed to be reasonably priced.
