Located in a building right by Shimbashi Station, Uokin Sohonten is a large-scale seafood izakaya with 90 seats spread across four floors from the ground floor to the basement. Its hallmark is serving seasonal seafood delivered from Toyosu Market every morning at reasonable prices, and its thickly sliced sashimi platters have earned a reputation for their variety and generous portions. There's also a good selection of dishes that go well with drinks, such as green laver tofu topped with a thick aosa seaweed sauce, dashi-rolled egg with mentaiko, and simmered sea bream head cooked in a slightly sweet sauce. Sake selected from all over Japan pairs well with the fish dishes, and courses with all-you-can-drink included are also available. Each floor has a different atmosphere, with counter seating, tatami seating, and horigotatsu (sunken table seating), allowing the restaurant to suit a drink after work, a party with friends, or even solo drinking. The whole restaurant is non-smoking, and the lively, efficient service that brings out orders at a good pace is also a nice touch.
