  • Date chicken grilled over high heat close to the charcoal
  • Rich, creamy finishing oyakodon
  • Omakase (chef's choice) — The chef decides the dishes. (Served until you say stop)
  • Yakitori bento available for takeout
  • Phone reservations only at the start of the month
  • A hidden gem tucked in a back alley
  • Only 12 counter seats
  • Lively view surrounding the grill area

At the heart of Torishiki's flavor is the technique of grilling skewers placed extremely close to the charcoal over high heat. The owner purchases whole Date chickens from Fukushima Prefecture that he selects himself. Each skewer reveals a different character, from clean-tasting, odor-free liver and tsukune meatballs kneaded with cartilage, to vegetable skewers like sweet potatoes and shiitake mushrooms cooked to retain their moisture. The skewers keep coming until you signal to stop, punctuated by bowls of rich tori paitan nyumen noodles and charcoal-kissed atsuaage fried tofu. The signature finishing oyakodon, with its wonderfully creamy, runny egg, is celebrated for going down easily even on a full stomach. The 12 counter seats wrap around the grilling station, offering an up-close view of the master chef skillfully working the coals with an uchiwa fan. A hidden gem nestled down an alley near Meguro Station, reservations are accepted by phone only at the start of each month, and yakitori bento boxes are also available for takeout.
