Just a short walk from Shibuya Station, on the first floor of a building in Dogenzaka, Taros has been open since 2007 as an Italian bar specializing in the regional cuisine of Sardinia, distinct from mainland Italian cooking. Its signature dishes are fregola, a grain-shaped pasta soaked in broth from mussels and clams, and bottarga spaghetti generously flavored with cured mullet roe, both of which many guests order by name. The assorted appetizer platter, featuring seafood, house-made ham, and vegetables, is satisfying on its own, and mains such as grilled bone-in lamb and acqua pazza are also popular. The interior, based in white and blue, evokes a Sardinian port town, and amid the lively atmosphere, conversation flows easily over wine brought in from Sardinia. With 40 seats in total including counter seats, sofa seats, and terrace seats, the restaurant can also accommodate private hire for groups of 20 or more. The entire venue is non-smoking, and the attentive service, including detailed explanations of the dishes, is also well received.
