Located about midway between Meguro Station and Fudomae Station, E-chan Shokudo is an early-morning ramen shop open from around 06:00 until ingredients run out. Its signature offering is a rich soy sauce soup layering dried mackerel flakes, pork, and niboshi dried sardines, perfectly caught by chewy homemade medium-thick wavy noodles for a bowl that is satisfying yet not overly heavy for breakfast. Toppings are exceptionally generous, including tender, thick-cut chashu, delightfully crunchy amber-tinted menma, and an astonishing amount of nori seaweed; regulars often order a raw egg to dip their noodles sukiyaki-style. Limited-edition broths changing weekly or monthly—such as oyster, red shrimp, or Hinai jidori chicken—are another highlight. Seating consists solely of 6 L-shaped counter seats, and the entire shop is non-smoking. Although run by a solo operator, service is remarkably brisk, and many guests warmly recall the owner's thoughtful words thanking them after their wait.
