Standing in a quiet corner along Higashi-dori from Ikebukuro Station, the standalone restaurant Grip is known for Italian dishes that make use of vegetables and carefully selected ingredients delivered from contracted farms across Japan. Its signature dish is fresh pasta combining kamaage shirasu, seasonal vegetables, and venison or wild boar meat, with thick, chewy noodles said to pair well with the sauce. The salad comes with a homemade dressing of shiso and new onion, and they'll even let you use the whole bottle as a nice touch. The interior, wrapped in the warmth of wood, orange lighting, and flickering candles, features an open kitchen in the center where you can enjoy watching the cooking in progress. The terrace seating, surrounded by potted plants, feels open and airy in summer, making it perfect for dates, girls' nights out, or anniversary meals. The pasta lunch, priced in the ¥1,500 range, is popular for its good value, and on weekends there can be a wait, so an early visit is recommended.
