Just a short walk from Roppongi Station, through a semi-basement entrance, you'll find yelo, a shaved ice specialty shop styled like a dimly lit bar in red and black tones. Its signature dish is the tiramisu shaved ice, made by layering cocoa powder and mascarpone over finely shaved pure ice that is fluffy like powder snow. Since the ice itself is flavored, it's said to stay enjoyable to the very last bite. Besides mango-based and strawberry milk flavors with pleasant fruity sweetness and acidity, unique monthly flavors such as organic carrot also appear. At night, alcohol-infused shaved ice made with rum or Kahlua is added to the menu, served in stemmed glasses for a cocktail-like experience. Open until 2:00 on weekdays and 5:00 on weekends, it's a perfect spot to stop by after drinking in Roppongi. With all-non-smoking counter and sofa seating, the staff's careful explanations are also a nice touch.
