Menya Inoichi, located along Teramachi-dori within walking distance of Gion-Shijo Station, is known for its clear soup simmered at low temperatures using several varieties of dried seafood flakes without pork or chicken. The white soy sauce dashi soba blends gentle sweetness with the aroma of bonito, while the black soy sauce provides a richer, deeper umami, both famed for letting you savor the soup to the final drop. Adding tabletop yuzu peel, tororo kombu, or sansho pepper subtly changes the flavor profile, creating varied impressions within a single bowl. Complementary sides include homemade shumai packed with bamboo shoot and shiitake umami, charred chashu rice bowls seasoned with sweet sauce, and chilled dashi soba in summer.
