Lion Hotel is a hidden-gem Chinese restaurant quietly nestled in a narrow alley behind Tenma Market. Its signature dishes are mapo tofu packed with the numbing buzz and heat of Sichuan pepper, and ankake fried rice loaded with plenty of crabmeat enveloped in a fluffy egg-white gravy, drawing many loyal regulars specifically for these two items. The variety of à la carte dishes is also broad, ranging from piping-hot soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) and drool-worthy chicken tossed in a spicy sauce to stir-fried organic Chinese vegetables with salt, and the remarkably fast delivery of dishes after ordering is another highlight.
