What we publish and where it comes from

• Basic restaurant information (name, address, phone number, opening hours, regular holidays, budget, seating, payment methods, etc.): compiled from information publicly available on the internet, such as restaurant guide sites and restaurants' official websites and social media.
• Menus and prices: based on publicly available information, plus additions and corrections sent by users and restaurants, which are reflected after review by our team.
• Restaurant descriptions: written by AI from the information we publish (menus, opening hours, etc.) and the general tendencies of publicly available reviews, then checked by a separate AI for inconsistencies with the published facts before they appear. Our team may also edit them.
• Dish categories and tags (types of dishes, occasions, etc.): assigned automatically from menu item names and restaurant information, including AI-based classification.
• Pages in other languages: restaurant names, addresses, menus, descriptions and user posts are translated by AI. Where no translation is available, the original Japanese is shown.
• User posts (meal records, photos and comments): posted by members. Posts are screened by AI before they are published and reviewed by our team when needed. Inappropriate posts can be reported.

How often we update

Restaurant information is updated every day. When we learn that a restaurant has closed or moved, we change how it is shown.

The information reflects the time it was checked and may differ from the current situation. Please confirm opening hours, prices and booking availability with the restaurant or the linked site before you visit.

Dietary and religious information

We do not state information about dietary restrictions or religious requirements, such as halal or vegan options, as certain. Instead, we show where the information comes from:

• Confirmed by restaurant: checked with the restaurant
• Reported by users: reported by users
• AI estimate: estimated by AI from menus and other information
• Unverified: not yet confirmed

Menu items and prices also show their verification status (confirmed by the restaurant, confirmed by users, or reported by users). If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, always check with the restaurant before ordering.

Ranking and advertising

The “Recommended” order in lists is calculated from users' reactions (Amazing, Good, OK, Meh) and the number of people who reacted. Among restaurants with the same rating, those with a description come first. Some pages can also be sorted by price, distance and other criteria.

There is no paid service to raise a restaurant's position. If we introduce advertising slots for restaurants in the future, they will be labeled “Sponsored”, and advertising will not change search results or the recommended order.

dishnote shows advertisements from third-party ad services. The ad providers and how they use cookies are described in our Privacy Policy (https://dishnote.com/en/privacy).

Some links and banners to booking sites and other services use affiliate programs (performance-based advertising), and the operator may receive a commission when you book or buy through them. Whether a commission is paid does not affect a restaurant's position or rating.

Corrections and contact

To report incorrect information or a closure or move, or for restaurant staff to request a correction, please contact us via the contact form (https://dishnote.com/en/contact). We will review the request and update the listing.

Members can also send additions and corrections to menus and prices from the restaurant page.
