Renowned for its Kishu duck soba, which layers duck, chicken, and seafood dashi into an elegant yet deeply flavorful broth, Burning Mensuke is a bustling ramen shop near JR Fukushima Station that has seen continuous queues since opening in 2016. Custom-made low-hydration medium-thin straight noodles are paired with the broth, while large, moist rare chashu slices and duck loin bring vibrant color to the bowl. The other signature pillar is the golden shellfish soba, bursting with the rich umami of scallops and clams balanced by a refreshing hint of yuzu, often leaving even regular diners torn between the two options. In summer, a cold noodle bowl combining duck, shellfish, plum, and okra makes an appearance, and many guests finish their meal with Lake Shinji shijimi clam rice drizzled with leftover broth. The interior features just 9 natural wood counter seats, with an immaculate atmosphere reminiscent of traditional kappo dining and polite service where staff kindly offer explanations at the ticket machine.
