A short walk from Kyobashi Station, down into the basement of a building, this 3-chome curry restaurant has been serving baked curry since 2005. The signature baked cheese beef curry is a European-style beef curry topped with cheese and baked, brought to the table still bubbling hot in a clay pot or iron pot. The more you mix it, the more the mellowness of the cheese spreads, changing the character of the spices. Another mainstay is a smooth seafood curry, a limited-quantity bowl infused with the umami of scallops and shrimp. The style is simple: choose between these two curries and a spice level, with playful touches like scoop-shaped spoons that evoke excavation and a small sweet treat after the meal. The interior, with antique furniture, lamps, and red brick walls, plays classical and jazz music, and is entirely non-smoking with about 30 seats between tables and sofa seating. Since each dish is made to order after ordering, it's best to visit with plenty of time to spare.
