Just a short walk from Jimbocho Station, LADRIO is a historic kissaten founded in 1949, renowned as the first shop in Japan to serve Viennese coffee. Featuring dark roast coffee generously topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream, this signature drink offers a layered blend of hot and cold, bitter and sweet. True to its name, which means brick in Spanish, the dimly lit interior is built with bricks on the walls, floor, and counter, where chansons and jazz play to create a timeless, tranquil atmosphere. The menu also offers classic kissaten fare, such as thoroughly sauteed traditional Napolitan spaghetti, moist daily special pound cake, and curry made with tender chicken. From 17:00 onwards, it turns into a bar where patrons can sip cocktails at the counter. All seats are non-smoking and reservations are not accepted, making it an ideal spot to drop by between visits to local bookshops.
