Located just off the north exit of Higashi-Jujo Station, down a narrow alley lined with snack bars, Sansanto has been serving its seafood and pork bone ramen behind a noren curtain since 2006. The broth, which combines pork bone and chicken with mackerel flakes and dried sardines, feels lighter than its appearance suggests, earning praise as a bowl that marries richness with refinement. Homemade medium-thick noodles offer a pasta-like chew and a smooth glide, complemented by juicy pork shoulder chashu cooked at low temperatures so each bowl remains satisfying to the last bite. The oil soba, coated in a rich sauce, is praised for its double appeal: softened first with raw egg, then enjoyed tsukemen-style by adding broth at the end. Operating for just 2 and a half hours from 18:00 to 20:30, it has only 7 counter seats, yet fast service and the proprietress's welcoming manner make solo visits easy. The shop is completely non-smoking, accepts cash only, and delivers an immensely satisfying meal for under ¥1,000.
